This question would matter if they would be shutting down the servers but we know they won't and they will still slowly continue the GW:Beyond. I will be playing GW2 for sure but I may still log in to GW1 from time to time so no reason to get rid of any items.

I'd go with option A. Like the above poster, I have WoW and DDO accounts that are floating out there in the digital ether. I'm working on doing the same with LOTRO and expect to do the same with GW as well.
Besides which, I don't have great masses of ectos or anything anyway - I've spent most of my gold along the way on things like Obsidian armor for 6 (of 11) characters.

I've definitely been a lot more generous lately just giving away a lot of stuff I would have normally tried to sell in the past or if I see someone posting a WTB item that I have, just selling it to them at a ridiculously low price.

Speaking of that, yesterday someone was looking for an Elite Sin Tome in LA. I whispered him, "I have a bunch of elite sin tomes, you can have for 1k each if you want." He replies "800g". So I just log off. Seriously?

I've also quit being cheap with my heroes. I used to be really hesitant to venture outside the "Sabway Triple Necro" setup because I was too cheap to want to outfit new heroes. Now whenever I want to experiment with something new, I just throw down the money for runes and don't worry about (OK, I'm still being cheap on the Major Vigor instead of Superior...).

I'm going to wait until I know how the HoM rewards you for what you have, then if I need anything I'm going to use all my wealth to fill it up with what's required. I'm hording money for that very reason.

A. Nuffink. Why would I waste time on throwing stuff out?

I only have about 500 in plat & mats & probly 500k invested in Armors/Runes/etc...

So I doubt I qualify as wealthy enough for this thread.

...but once HoM details are announced I'll probably divy it out to any of my friends & guildmates who will take it.

I will play GW1 until my computer quits or the servers go down. Everything I have at that time will remain on my account as it fades into nothingness.

So much for being generous. Some guy wanted to buy a gold spear, so I PM'd him and said I have a few extras and he can just have one for free. So I throw three Q9 gold spears up in the trade window and he replies, "You don't have anything nicer?" It reminds me of the time in college I tried to give a bum my left over Chinese food and he cussed me out.

if i quit gw, i keep most stuff, why? well this:
i have not much for HoM, just sugar, alcohol and party stuff, when i gave that away, i dont care anymore
i never cared about HoM at all, and i still dont

except those items, the rest will stay
if i dont play gw anymore, i simply dont play it anymore....

I have nothing else to do but fill up my HoM with things for GW2 rewards. That is the only reason I have money left in this game and havent quit.

And seeing as how rewards probably won't ever come out, and that concept is already probably in the Anet recycling bin... I'll be sitting on everything and itll become useless forever.

In the GW world I guess I would consider myself:

lower Middle Class

Most of the effort has gone onto armor and titles. I only have a few ectos; I've rarely gone to UW since the game was released. Farming the elite areas just doesn't interest me for whatever reason. Oh, and I've never had an armbrace, ever. heh

So to answer the OP's question, I would go with option A.

Better safe than sorry. Wait and see.

1. If GW 2 runs well for you. Any new program, including new MMO, has lots of teething problems.

2. It is possible that ANet will later seek to stimulate further sales of GW 1 by including GW 1 new missions in optional GW 2 missions. I cannot see Anet throwing away an opportunity like that.

3. Never burn your bridges. No matter how green the grass may look on the other side.

4. Besides which ... it may turn out that you do not like GW 2; hard though that may be to believe. For an example, spend a few minutes on the Civfanatics forum in the Civilization 5 general discussion section for some real fireworks of the Civ 5 versus Civ 4 variety.

Oh ... me? Waste not, want not. I'm keeping all my stuff and will probably keep playing GW 1 off and on forever.

I'm waiting to see what we get from our HoM, They stated they would be doing a points system? I'd like to hear more on that before I pump my money into some titles.
While I wait I'll probably buy some fancy high end weapons to wag my e-peen with...

I'll probably stock up on stuff. I'm gonna finally develop my Ranger and I'll need materials for armor and the like. She already has the bows she needs though. 10 and counting. My hope is that people will be selling stuff cheap because money won't really mean anything anymore.
